Spring Chicken Dinner

Page 1, Preparing for the dinner

Pictures on this page are of our annual Chicken Dinner held March 9, 2003. but this dinner is held on the 2nd Sunday each March. The last one was held March 14, 2010.

It was a drizzly, late winter day. The asphalt lots came in handy as the grass fields the workers used were solid mud. Thanks to Joe Tobben and his skid steer for pulling so many of us out of the mud. We served 3502 meals, which included 2714 table settings, 502 drive thru and 236 carry outs.

Hi there!

Want to eat?

Step right up and meet our first worker. Don is happy to accept your hard earned cash and let you trade it for some of our great chicken and trimmings.

Chance on a handmade quilt?

While you are waiting in the seating queue area you will have some time to fill out a few raffle tickets and take a chance on winning a large quilt.

Time to be seated.

Your table is setup and ready for "family style" serving. Bring your appetite, as it is all you can eat.

There are eight tables setup like this (48 seats per table), and we seat all eight tables about once every hour.

Enjoy the meal!

Things are in full swing. All the tables have been filled at least once and the ones at the back of the picture are being cleaned up and reset.

The horde of white shirts and hats in the top of the picture are getting food at the service counter and bringing it to the tables.

Ya' know, with the pictures at this size, they kind of resemble non-stop working ants. And they do work... many are there from early in the morning until cleanup is done around 8 PM.

Kitchen service counter.

The men at the counter at left are filling bowls and platters with food and giving it to the servers.

The men at the back of the scene are washing dishes. Yes ladies, our men can wash dishes when needed.

The other side of the counter.

Now you can see what the counter servers look like. The picture above had a slightly different "profile".

Continued swarming.

This scene continued from 10:30 AM to 6 PM.
